You don’t need a spotless house or streamline schedule to meet with God. He’s not asking for performance—He’s waiting for your presence. This is for every weary mama who wonders if she’s enough.

The Lord isn’t waiting for perfection, for our house to be cleaned, for our kids to be well-mannered or patient while we step aside to read our bible. He’s waiting for us to kneel amongst the chaos. He’s waiting for a desperate cry for help, to hear a plea in your prayer for strength to get through. He’s waiting on you to choose Him in the moment.

Where is the sincerity in a scheduled time on your daily planner?

Not that routine is bad—God is a God of order (1 Corinthians 14:33). But when routine becomes religion, when we clock in and out of our faith like it’s just another task to check off, we miss the intimacy. We miss the relationship. I’m guilty of it.

He wants your heart in the middle of the mess. The heart that’s overwhelmed, stretched thin, unshowered, holding back tears. He wants that heart.

Because the truth is, the real you—the unfiltered, exhausted, frustrated, under-caffeinated you—is exactly who Jesus came for. Not the polished version. Not the woman who finally “gets it all together.” He came for the broken. The undone. The weary.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

He doesn’t require a silent house, just a surrendered heart.

Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is whisper, “Lord give me strength,” while your toddler throws a tantrum and dinner burns on the stove. Sometimes worship looks like heartfelt prayers from your post of duty, standing before your sink washing the days dishes. Sometimes prayer is a cry muffled into a pillow because you just. can’t. do. it. anymore.

    And that’s okay.

Because God isn’t tallying your tasks—He’s pursuing your trust. He’s not impressed by perfection; He’s moved by dependence.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

You don’t have to come to Him with answers. Come with your questions. Your doubts. Your shortcomings. He can handle your mess. As mothers, the Lord is so gracious to meet us where we are.

Maybe it’s in the madness that you’re most aware of your need. Maybe it’s in the tension, the stretch, the noise—that you finally lift your eyes and realize: He was there all along. Waiting. Not with judgment. But with grace.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

So go ahead. Whisper His name in the middle of the spilled milk and sibling rivalries. Invite Him into your ordinary, because that’s where He does the extraordinary.

You don’t need to earn His presence. Just turn toward it.

And when you do, you’ll find what you’ve been chasing all along. Not a moment of peace, but the Prince of Peace. You don’t have to hold it all together, you just have to hold onto Him.
